Confirmed Lineup: Pasikala making up for lost time

Motu Pasikala was a schoolboy rugby union star when the One New Zealand Warriors signed him for the 2024 season.

Indeed, then 18, he was juggling First XV rugby union commitments with the Liston College First XV as he embarked on his rugby league career.

As a winger-fullback, his prowess was all too obvious as he lit it up across three grades starting in the Warriors’ SG Ball Cup (under-19) side, moving up to the Jersey Flegg Cup (under-21) and to senior level in the New South Wales Cup reserve grade competition.

He finished the year with 13 NSW Cup appearances, scoring eight tries, kicking 24 goals and averaged 114 metres a game which he also played a total of 13 matches for the SG Ball and Jersey Flegg sides.

All signs indicated 2025 would be a year of major progress.

He was used in the club’s two NRL trials against Cronulla Sutherland and Melbourne before starting the season proper with the Jersey Flegg Cup side.

However, after two games, he was sidelined for much of the season with injury before returning for the last five rounds. In his seven outings he scored three tries.

Now he starts again, this time starting in today’s NRL Preseason Challenge match against the Sea Eagles.
