Family, friends and the wider community are lending their support to talented One New Zealand Warriors junior Noah Jensen who is in hospital fighting a rare blood disorder.
The 19-year-old and his family learned of the devastating diagnosis late last week which will require significant treatment.
"Our world has been shaken. On Friday, August 29, Noah was diagnosed with a very rare blood disorder PNH stands for paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, a rare, acquired blood disorder,” says a blurb on a Givealittle page titled ‘Our Boy Noah’.
“He also has aplastic anemia. He is being looked after very well by the doctors and nurses and will be in hospital for some time as he needs to get all the right treatment.
“We are still in so much shock with the news. He will be going through some really intense treatment and has already. The treatment is also very expensive and Noah will be having bone marrow transplant with daily blood and platelets transfusion. We are very much in the unknown at the moment.
“Noah has been so strong, brave and is ready for the right treatment.”
Jensen, a Westlake Boys’ High School product, has come through the One New Zealand Warriors’ pathways system. After being in the wider SG Ball Cup (under-19) squad last year he made his debut this season playing in eight of the team’s nine games in the halves and at hooker.
“Our thoughts, love and support go out to Noah and his family at this time,” said One New Zealand Warriors CEO Cameron George.
“He has been in our system for some time and was a key contributor to our SG Ball side this season as well as being part of our under-21 Jersey Flegg Cup squad.”
The Givealittle page has so far raised more than $14,400.
