Hunger for success will again fuel the One New Zealand Warriors when they host the Western Suburbs Magpies in their round 19 New South Wales Cup match at Go Media Stadium on Sunday (11.40am kick-off).
The game is the first of a mouth-watering schedule of three contests followed by the NRLW team’s homecoming encounter with Parramatta and then the round 19 NRL battle between the Warriors and Wests Tigers.
While the Warriors have the chance to extend their exceptional run of wins to 12, they face a sizable challenge from a Western Suburbs side which has put together strong form in recent weeks highlighted by wins over the Raiders and the Roosters in their last two starts.
They also boast significant NRL experience in the shape of fullback Brent Naden, front rower Royce Hunt and centre Taylan May.
With NRL stars Luke Metcalf and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad among the club’s injured players, the Warriors have lost fullback Taine Tuaupiki and halfback Tanah Boyd to first-grade duty.

The versatile Geronimo Doyle takes over the fullback’s role while Penrith juniors Luke Hanson and Jett Cleary have another outing together in the halves as they continue their development.
Coming back from injury to bolster the backline is NRL centre Ali Leiataua while there’s experience in starting props in Bunty Afoa and Freddy Lussick with the clever Sam Healey at hooker.
When the two sides met at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in round four the One New Zealand Warriors prevailed 34-20 to make it four wins on end.
Their only loss of the season so far followed two weeks later off their first bye; this week they’re fresh off their second bye but hoping for a better outcome.
