Maxigesic Recovery Report: Metcalf, CNK injury updates

One New Zealand Warriors halfback Luke Metcalf will miss the rest of the season while fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is out for four weeks after both suffered knee injuries in Saturday’s round 17 match against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.

Scans have confirmed Metcalf ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee when he was tackled by Brisbane second rower Brendan Piakura in the 67th minute.

A timeline on surgery is yet to be determined.

Nicoll-Klokstad was treated for a knee injury after trying to stop Broncos centre Gehamat Shibasaki scoring just on halftime.

He came out for the second half but was replaced in the opening minute with scans revealing he has a moderate lateral collateral ligament (LCL) sprain in his left knee. He’s expected to be available again for the round 21 match against the Titans on July 26.

Metcalf and Nicoll-Klokstad join Mitchell Barnett, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Ali Leiataua on the injured list.
