Leading retailer PlaceMakers has signed as the inaugural partner of a new Warriors Legends concept to be launched on the eve of the One New Zealand Warriors’ final regular season NRL match against Parramatta at Go Media Stadium on Friday, August 29.

The feature event of the annual old boys’ reunion will bring together former players from across the club’s 30-year history, kicking off with PlaceMakers as presenting partner of the first-ever Warriors Legends luncheon on Thursday, August 28.

“We’re excited about showcasing our former players on their own as part of the Warriors Legends initiative,” said One New Zealand Warriors CEO Cameron George.

“They’re such a significant and revered part of our club’s history and we want to ensure we celebrate them in the best way possible.

“It’s special to not only bring them together but to also provide our members and corporate community with the opportunity to hear from our past players at our inaugural Warriors Legends luncheon.

“We’re equally delighted and grateful that a business of PlaceMakers’ standing has chosen to support the Warriors Legends concept and we look forward to working alongside them as we bring more unique experiences for our fans.”

PlaceMakers is New Zealand’s largest trade merchant with almost 70 outlets across the country.

“PlaceMakers wants to create events which are going to resonate with their customer network,” said One New Zealand Warriors commercial sales manager Thomas Harris.

“The Warriors as a club, and especially past players, are iconic for their customers and sports fans across the board.

“Warriors Legends events will also provide great opportunities for our corporates and business community to connect with their heroes as well as bringing along customers and staff to support the club further.

“We’re already seeing record levels of support for the Warriors throughout New Zealand as well as in Australia. Warriors Legends will add another level through honouring and celebrating our past.”

The luncheon promises to provide a rich fund of laughter and stories from former Warriors from across generations with almost 300 players having represented the club at first-grade level to date.
