Promoting ‘Wahs Up’ wellbeing club in workplace

A group of old boys is leading a project driven by the One New Zealand Warriors’ wellbeing team promoting resilience in workplaces.

In partnership with the Ministry of Health through the club’s wellbeing partner Le Va, the Warriors have taken their resilience in industry programme to companies like Firth Industries, Lion Breweries, New Zealand Couriers, DHL and ex-Warrior Joe Vagana’s deconstruction business TROW.

Delivering the workshops are Warriors alumni Jerry Seuseu - the One New Zealand Warriors' wellbeing and education manager - Anthony Gelling, Ben Henry, Glen Fisiiahi and Ali Lauitiiti.

“The programme is aimed at encouraging conversations at industrial workplaces around mental health,” said Seuseu.

“These conversations involve an awareness piece on what mental health is and how we can identify and manage mental health challenges.

“A bigger part of the workshop is sharing the club’s wellbeing framework and some key wellbeing strategies and tools available to high performance athletes.

"We have been delighted to meet with fans and members at the different workplaces as well as sharing with the wider community.”

Seuseu said all participants in the programme have been invited to join ‘Wahs Up’. Through this outlet, the Warriors are aiming to create an online club across Auckland and Aotearoa to equip a team of Wellbeing Warriors who can act as wellbeing champions in the workplace.

“We invite all businesses and industries to join our ‘Wahs Up’ club and inquire how we can partner to deliver at your workplace,” said Seuseu.
