One New Zealand Warriors centre Ali Leiataua is out for five to six weeks after having surgery on an ankle injury.

The syndesmosis injury happened an hour into his comeback from injury while playing for the club’s New South Wales Cup side against the Newtown Jets on June 7.

His return timeline has been set for round 21 or 22, five to six weeks away.

Fullback Taine Tuaupiki is unavailable this week as he follows the NRL’s head injury protocols after being knocked out in a tackle by Parramatta’s Alfred Smalley in the final moments of the Warriors’ 46-22 New South Wales Cup win last Saturday.

Centre Rocco Berry will sit out another week with a hamstring injury in expectation he’ll be available next week.
