Fresh from his New South Wales Cup debut, halfback Jett Cleary rejoins the One New Zealand Warriors’ Jersey Flegg Cup (under-21) side for Saturday’s round 13 clash against South Sydney at Redfern Oval (11.15am kick-off local time; 1.15pm NZT).

The 20-year-old was promoted to play alongside NRL players in last Sunday’s NSW Cup clash against Canterbury Bankstown.

He was heavily involved throughout the 40-24 win, gaining 79 metres from 10 runs, producing a line break assist and try assist, handling the ball 36 times, making 15 tackles and gaining 136 metres from five kicks.

Now he’s back in the Jersey Flegg side, reunited with young halves partner Jack Thompson (19) who had the reins at #7 in last week’s match against the Bulldogs.

Thompson handled his assignment impressively as the Warriors thundered back from a 6-22 halftime deficit with a 34-6 second half rampage to topple their higher-ranked opponents 40-28, a result which lifted them to 10th, one point off eighth spot.

Also returning is second rower Kahu Capper while Jason Salalilo starts in the front row after recently having a taste of NSW Cup football.

Buoyed by their success last weekend, the Warriors face a South Sydney side lying two spots below them in 12th spot on eight points.
