Christchurch does it again selling out for Anzac Day

For the third straight time in 14 months, Christchurch and South Island fans have shown how much the One New Zealand Warriors mean to them with the sold-out sign going up three weeks in advance of the club’s historic Anzac Day match against Newcastle at Apollo Projects Stadium.

It follows sell-outs for last year’s Preseason Challenge against Wests Tigers in February and the round three home game against Canberra two months later.

And it comes just days after the club confirmed all tickets had been sold well ahead of the Warriors’ round seven home match against the Brisbane Broncos at Go Media Stadium on Saturday, April 19.

The three Christchurch sell-outs underline the importance of the partnership the Warriors signed with Venues Ōtautahi and Christchurch NZ in late 2023 to bring NRL homes games to New Zealand’s second largest city.

The last match of the current deal will see the Warriors play at One New Zealand Stadium (Te Kaha) when it opens next year.

““It’s absolutely terrific the way fans in Christchurch keep showing their support for the Warriors,” said One New Zealand Warriors CEO Cameron George.

“This really cements our relationship in an agreement that means so much to us as a club but which is also providing huge economic benefits for the city of Christchurch and the Canterbury region.

“We can’t wait to be back in front of our members and fans on Anzac Day and again next year when playing at One New Zealand Stadium will be one of the biggest events in our club’s history.”

The One New Zealand Warriors have also forged strong links with rugby league in Christchurch which is reflected in numerous local players featuring in the club’s pathways teams in the Harold Matthews Cup (under-17) and SG Ball Cup (under-19) competitions.
