Finals Game Day: First home play-off in 15 years

All the focus is on the football when the One New Zealand Warriors host their first home final in 15 years on Saturday.

Not since beating the Sydney Roosters in 2008, have the One New Zealand Warriors savoured the experience of playing a finals match at Go Media Stadium.

Now, on the back of the first top four season since 2007, the wait is almost over for all concerned.

Gates will open at 4.00pm ahead of the Warriors' semifinal against the buoyant Newcastle Knights (6.05pm kick-off).

Game day will have a much different look and feel for One New Zealand members and fans – as well as the players – at a Go Media Stadium which is once again sold out.

Finals games are run by the NRL so supporters won’t see the traditional features which make a One New Zealand Warriors home game such a memorable experience in terms of the build-up, the team’s run out and halftime activations.

After mini mods and the coin toss, the teams are due to run out for their warm-ups at 5.40pm.

Then it’s all about the football as the One New Zealand Warriors go into battle seeking to claim a victory that would earn them a preliminary final against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium on September 23.
