Rd 19 NSW Cup Team List: Hunting back-to-back victories

After rebounding with a much-needed victory last week, the One New Zealand Warriors have a chance for back-to-back wins for the first time since April when they line up against Parramatta in tomorrow’s 19th-round New South Wales Cup contest at CommBank Stadium in Sydney (3.05pm kick-off local time; 5.05pm NZT).

While last Friday’s tense 21-18 win over South Sydney was just the Warriors’ second since April 30 it enabled them to move back into the top four with seven matches to play in their regular season.

Parramatta, lying 10th on the ladder, has had a lean recent run with four straight losses to Newcastle (16-35), Canterbury Bankstown (12-64), the Sea Eagles (10-46) and Newtown (22-40).

The Warriors were in commanding form when they last took on the Eels winning 48-4 against a side which boasted far more NRL experience.

The same will be the case tomorrow with the Eels naming a side which includes former Warrior Jack Murchie with 45 NRL games, Rotorua-born Haze Dunster (19 games), Waqa Blake (163 games), Matt Doorey (28 games), Auckland-born Jirah Moimoisea (11 games), Ky Rodwell (5 games) and Zac Cini (4 games) plus the well-travelled Jordan Rankin who has played more than 160 games in the NRL and Super League.

In contrast the Warriors don’t have one forward with NRL experience with three of them – Leka Halasima, Jacob Laban and Tanner Stowers-Smith – all playing in the SG Ball Cup under-19 competition earlier in the season.

Centre Brayden Wiliame has played 48 NRL games while the others in the backline with limited NRL backgrounds are Viliami Vailea (17 games), Ronald Volkman (4 games), Taine Tuaupiki (2 games) and Moala Graham-Taufa (1 game).
