Tough run on road starts for New South Wales Cup side

Just like their NRL counterparts have already experienced, the One New Zealand Warriors’ New South Wales Cup side now enters a challenging phase of the season with three consecutive road trips.

The run starts on Saturday when the Slade Griffin-coached side faces South Sydney at Redfern Oval followed by the Raiders in Canberra on June 10 and Newtown at Henson Park on June 17.

The Warriors lie fourth going into this week’s 14th round, having slipped from the top of the table after a draw and two losses in their last three starts against fellow top-ranked sides North Sydney, Canterbury-Bankstown and Penrith.

Just five players named this week have NRL experience, the most seasoned of them being prop James Gavet and centre Brayden Wiliame, who’ll be having his second outing after returning from a long injury lay-off.

Three teenagers have been named in the back row – Jacob Laban and Leka Halasima in the second row and NRL rookie Demitric Sifakula a loose forward.
