NSW Cup side chases rebound win in Newcastle

Halfback Ronald Volkman returns to bolster the One New Zealand Warriors for their sixth-round New South Wales Cup match against Newcastle at McDonald Jones Stadium today (3.45pm kick-off local time; 5.45pm NZT).

With Volkman on NRL duty last week, the side had a battling 12-20 loss to Western Suburbs last week which, with this weekend’s results so far, has seen them slip from third to fifth on the ladder.

Volkman returns to partner Ben Farr in the halves today as the One New Zealand Warriors face the last-placed Newcastle, a side they beat 42-20 in the opening round of the season.

The original line-up named is likely to be shuffled before kick-off.

Taine Tuaupiki was selected at fullback but has been added to the bench for the club’s NRL side today while hooker Freddy Lussick has been omitted from the first-grade squad to free him up to line up for the NSW Cup side.
