Cautious approach taken with Watene-Zelezniak's injury

Winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is being targeted for a round five return from the calf tear which saw him withdrawn from the One New Zealand Warriors’ first-round clash against Newcastle on Friday night.

He picked up the injury in the club's second Preseason Challenge match against Melbourne on February 19.

While he is back running the club’s head of performance Balin Cupples said a cautious approach had been adopted.

It’s hoped he’ll be in contention to return for the match against Cronulla-Sutherland in Sydney on April 2.

Cupples said back rowers Jazz Tevaga (shoulder/hernia) and Bayley Sironen (knee) were making good progress while centre Rocco Berry (foot) is in his second week of full team training with a view to being ready to play in round four.

Cupples said half Luke Metcalf had a high grade hamstring strain with timeline yet set on his return.
