Members-only crowd for first trial against Wests Tigers

New ground will be broken when a members-only crowd has an exclusive opportunity to watch the One New Zealand Warriors play their first 2023 NRL preseason trial against the Wests Tigers at Mount Smart Stadium on Thursday, February 9.

After three years based in Australia, One New Zealand Warriors CEO Cameron George said the decision to stage the trial as a closed event was to repay members for their sacrifices.

“They suffered extremely over the last three seasons when they were unable to watch their team at home but they remained absolutely loyal,” he said.

“Now we have the chance to start our first home-based campaign since 2019 by enabling them to join together as we start the club’s most significant season since 1995.”

On a special night, Andrew Webster will make his debut as the One New Zealand Warriors’ head coach while a number of new recruits could also play for the club for the first time.

Rugby league legend Benji Marshall will also be lining up for his first outing as the Tigers’ new coach.

The One New Zealand Warriors have signed Mitchell Barnett, Jackson Ford, Te Maire Martin, Luke Metcalf, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Marata Niukore Brayden Wiliame and Dylan Walker.

The Tigers have also recruited strongly signing David Klemmer, Apisai Koroisau, Isaiah Papali'i, Charlie Staines, John Bateman and Will Smith.

Access to the February 9 trial will limited to one ticket per membership; tickets will be available for members to download from their accounts in the coming days.

It should be noted the trial is exclusive to One New Zealand Warriors members only. Friends, family and fans wishing to attend can do so only by purchasing a club membership.

Further details about the trial will be released soon.

See you at Mount Smart on Thursday, February 9 for all the big names and live NRL action, exclusively for loyal One New Zealand Warriors members.
