Game Day Guide: Facing Bulldogs in Homecoming Series #3

A laser light show, a battle between the defence forces and the police and a performance by the popular Royal New Zealand Navy Pasifika band are features of the Warriors Community Foundation-sponsored game day programme for the Vodafone Warriors’ Homecoming Series clash at Mount Smart Stadium on Friday night.

In the third of their four homecoming matches the Vodafone Warriors host the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs (kick-off 8.00pm).

After the gates open at 5.00pm, the on-field action starts with the New Zealand Combined Forces taking on the New Zealand Police (5.30pm kick-off).

The New Zealand Police and New Zealand Defence Forces will also both have a presence in the 95 Social precinct.

The police will be running a talent pathways/recruitment promotion featuring a photo booth, a competition using a laser to time a 20m sprint and there’ll also be jump test, grip test and press up contests.

The NZDF will have a recruitment expo on site.

As game day sponsor, the Warriors Community Foundation launched two initiatives last month to support its educational programmes.

Jerseys worn by the Vodafone Warriors in their historic homecoming match against the Wests Tigers on July 3 are among two sets that have been up for auction help raise funds.

Also available through the auction are the club’s 2022 ‘Te Amokura’ Indigenous jerseys used against the Newcastle Knights in round 12.

Money raised from selling the prized apparel will provide invaluable help in the foundation’s goal to reach more tamariki (children) through its programmes.

The jerseys are open for bids through galabid.com/wcf22 with the auction closing at 10.30pm on August 12 following the match against the Bulldogs.

The site also accepts donations and the chance to become a permanent named feature by purchasing a ‘virtual brick’.

Tickets are still available through www.ticketmaster.co.nz for Friday night’s match, with all available seats priced at $10 until 9.00 am on Wednesday, August 10.
