Bay of Plenty Lakers get in behind Sky Sport Future Warriors

The Bay of Plenty Lakers have provided invaluable support for the Sky Sport Future Warriors' development programme.

In another bid to give the club's players of the future much-needed game time experience, the Sky Sport Future Warriors travelled to Rotorua for two age group matches against local Bay of Plenty sides.

The matches at Rotorua Lakes High School were won by the Sky Sport Future Warriors' under-15 and under-18 selections.

Sky Sport Future Warriors manager Athens Henare said the players who made the trip relished in the experience.

"It's vital for our young players to have as much game time together as possible," he said.

"We really appreciate everything the Bay of Plenty Lakers did to make the day possible, especially Jenny Nahu from the Lakers and Maurice and Heather from Rotorua Lakes High School for allowing our young talent to represent both organisations.

"Thank you so much to the women who prepared the food and everyone else who made the day special."

The next planned event for the Sky Sport Future Warriors is the open S G Ball Cup (under-19) trials on October 15 and 16 before starting preseason training on November 1.
