Vodafone Warriors campaigning to score tourists

Vodafone Warriors players are starring in a new tourism campaign encouraging their families and friends to Escape to Moreton Bay like a Warrior.

The Moreton Bay Region has been the team’s home away from home, with players and staff based at Redcliffe’s Moreton Daily Stadium until the end of the 2022 season.

During their time in the region, they have had the chance to explore some of its best tourist attractions.

Some of these are featured in four videos starring players including Bayley Sironen, Wayde Egan, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Euan Aitken, Bunty Afoa and Aaron Pene.

The campaign, funded by Moreton Bay Regional Council and created by Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT), is an opportunity to showcase the region to a new audience, particularly New Zealand travellers and Vodafone Warriors fans.

It targets fans aged 25-50 years, ‘Grey Nomads’ aged 50-70 years, young people aged 20-34 years and the Brisbane visitor market – people planning a stay in Brisbane from Australia and overseas.

Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism CEO and Founder Shane Newcombe says having the Vodafone Warriors based in the region for the season presented an opportunity for them to be ‘ambassadors’.

“They’ve had the chance to discover the natural wonders in our region, but also some unique experiences. The videos we’ve put together feature players enjoying some of those tourism drawcards and aim to inspire everyone else to do the same,” said Newcombe.

|“My team tells me the boys were awesome to work with and really got into it. They really were great sports.”|

The Escape to Moreton Bay like a Warrior videos are being promoted on the Visit Moreton Bay Region website, via social media and by the Vodafone Warriors to their members and fans as part of their sponsorship agreement with Moreton Bay Regional Council.

Players in starring roles

MBRIT’s Visit Moreton Bay Region team has produced four videos featuring Vodafone Warriors players and key locations in the region. Bayley Sironen just may have missed his calling!

Escape to Ocean View Estates Like a Warrior | This video featuring Bayley Sironen and Wayde Egan takes a look at Ocean View Estates winery and the winning pairing of local produce and estate-made wines. The boys sample both.

Escape to Abbey Museum of Art and Archeology like a Warrior | Bayley Sironen and Chanel Harris Tavita take a step back to the Middle Ages, donning Medieval garb and brandishing swords as they tour Abbey Museum of Art and Archeology at Caboolture. There’s even a battle scene …

Escape to the Gantry like a Warrior | Bayley Sironen and Wayde Egan strap on their walking shoes and explore one of the Moreton Bay Region's popular picnic spots, hidden in the D'Aguilar National Park, the Gantry Day use area.

Escape Room Challenge | Euan Aitken, Bunty Afoa, and Aaron Pene have to use their powers of deduction to make their way out of a Moreton Bay Region-inspired escape room by passing a series of challenges.
