Our Anzac Day history game by game in detail

The Vodafone Warriors and Melbourne mark the 13th anniversary of their Anzac Day tradition when they meet at AAMI Park on Monday night.

It will be the 12th time the rivals have come together to commemorate the day two nations pause to remember.

In 2015 the Vodafone Warriors hosted Gold Coast on April 25 while in 2020 the Covid pandemic forced the cancellation of the traditional fixture.

The NRL's 2022 Anzac Day edition begins with the St George Illawarra Dragons facing the Sydney Roosters at the Sydney Cricket Ground at 4.00pm on Monday before the Storm and the Vodafone Warriors kick off at 7.00pm in Melbourne

It was on a Saturday afternoon in 2009 that the Trans Tasman foes first played each other on Anzac Day.

That finished in a controversial 14-14 deadlock after golden point extra time; since then the Storm have gone on to dominate the ledger with an 8-2 advantage in the following nine encounters.

No question, though, that the Vodafone Warriors’ only two successes in 2011 (18-14) and 2014 (16-10) rank among the club’s most famous, coming on nights when the players demonstrated exceptional courage in the face of adversity.

Listed below are details of each of the Vodafone Warriors’ 12 Anzac Day encounters which represent such a notable chapter in the club’s history, above all for the significance of the occasion each and every time.
