Reinsfield appointed new Vodafone Warriors chairman

Former Commonwealth Games silver medal-winning wrestler Ken Reinsfield has been appointed the new chairman of the Vodafone Warriors’ board.

Reinsfield (64), who comes into the role for the departed former chairman Rob Croot, had a role with the Vodafone Warriors as wrestling coach under previous head coaches Tony Kemp and Ivan Cleary.

He also managed and trained New Zealand heavyweight boxing champion Shane Cameron during his professional career and has promoted professional boxing in New Zealand and Australia.

During his wrestling career, Reinsfield lost the 74kg final at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane and finished sixth in the 82kg class at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Following his wrestling career, Reinsfield became a foundation member of the New Zealand Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission formed in 1986 and he was also a New Zealand delegate on the Oceania Olympic Academy.
