Harris-Tavita given starting fullback's role

Chanel Harris-Tavita will be the starting fullback with Ash Taylor and Kodi Nikorima in the halves for the Vodafone Warriors' trial against the Storm in Melbourne today (4.00pm kick-off local time; 6.00pm NZT).

He has a chance to play himself into the fullback's spot for the season-opening clash against the Dragons on March 12 when established Reece Walsh will be unavailable due to suspension.

Harris-Tavita spent some time in the position in the Māori All Stars' 16-10 win over the Indigenous All Stars last week.

Taylor, making his debut for the Vodafone Warriors, and Nikorima - along with Harris-Tavita - are are bidding to partner Shaun Johnson in the halves for the first-round of the season.

Starting the centres is new signing Jesse Arthars with Jazz Tevaga being used at hooker initially.

Walsh is on a bench which also includes prop Matt Lodge - suspended for the opening round - new signing Aaron Pene and Ben Murdoch-Masila.
