My Auckland: Jazz Tevaga

Vodafone Warriors utility forward Jazz Tevaga likes the label 'Kura hard. While he was born in Christchurch, he's Papakura through and through.

Named the 2018 NRL Dally M interchange player of the year, he has been playing at first-grade level for the club since 2016.

He talks about his Auckland ahead of the 'Codes of Auckland' rugby league-rugby union double header at Eden Park on Saturday, March 21, when the Vodafone Warriors host Canberra in their first home game of the new NRL season while the Blues face the Brumbies in their Super Rugby encounter.

I know I’m in Auckland when I … see the harbour bridge.

The Auckland Harbour Bridge has been an iconic landmark of Auckland’s skyline since 1959. Not only is it a quick and easy way to the beautiful beaches in the north, it is now a playground for tourists too, offering bungy jumps and bridge walks. Also, Vector Lights on the Harbour Bridge is a fabulous light show that can’t be missed.

The best thing I've discovered in Auckland is ... East Park Bakery and Café in Papakura.

When I want to show Auckland off to my friends from out of town I ... take them to Takapuna Beach.

Takapuna is one of Auckland’s most vibrant beach-side destinations, offering a relaxed beach atmosphere, shopping, a thriving dining scene and stunning views out across a white sand beach to the Hauraki Gulf and iconic Rangitoto Island.

When friends visit, where do you take them for dinner? Stampede Restaurant and Bar in Papakura.

My local is ... Headquarters in the Viaduct.

Right on the water, Headquarters is one of the best spots in Auckland to enjoy a sunny afternoon or a fun night out with good music and food.

My most memorable food experience in Auckland was ... the pies at East Park Bakery. They’re mean as.

In my spare time you'll find me ... running with my dog in Flat Bush.

The one thing I hope never changes in Auckland is ... the people. We’re multi-cultural in Auckland and everyone gets along.

Playing on Eden Park will be ... a cool experience. I’ve always watched the All Blacks play there. It looks mean and I’m hoping it will be like that when we play there.
