There were some familiar faces delivering Sealy beds to families at RMHC® New Zealand’s Ronald McDonald House in Auckland recently, with star Vodafone Warriors players lending a hand as furniture delivery men in support of the charity.

Karl Lawton, Patrick Herbert, Sam Lisone and Jackson Frei used their strength to move the beds donated by local manufacturer, Sealy NZ, taking them in to the House and setting them up.  They then helped families staying at the House to make the beds up all ready for sleeping in that evening.

The experience was part of the club’s build up to the Great Vodafone Warriors Charity Day on Sunday, June 30 when the team plays the Penrith Panthers. RMHC New Zealand is one of the five partner charities the Vodafone Warriors are supporting through the charity day.

RMHC New Zealand supports families when their child is in a hospital away from home. In 2018, RMHC New Zealand provided more than 4,300 families with accommodation and support free of charge at its facilities throughout New Zealand.

Vodafone Warriors Community Relations Manager, Petrece Kesha, said the club is proud to support RMHC New Zealand and do their bit to support the charity today.

“As a club we are invested in our community, doing our bit to support the most vulnerable.  Anyone could end up needing the help of RMHC New Zealand one day – the love and care they provide for families with children in hospital is nothing short of incredible.  The players really enjoyed being able to do their bit not only to help out with delivering and making up the beds today, but also in helping put a smile on the faces of families who are going through a really difficult time,” she said.

RMHC New Zealand CEO Wayne Howett said: “We were incredibly excited to have the Vodafone Warriors come along today to help with the delivery of the beds that have been so generously donated by Sealy. We have some big Vodafone Warriors fans in the House so families really enjoyed being able to meet the players and thank them in person for their wonderful support.”

As part of the Great Vodafone Warriors Charity Day, fans have the opportunity to do their bit when buying tickets by entering the code for their favourite charity from among the club’s five partners. For every ticket purchased with a charity code, the Vodafone Warriors will donate an additional $5 straight to that charity.

To support RMHC New Zealand when buying your tickets for the June 30 match against the Penrith Panthers, use the code word RMHC, HERE, to donate $5 to RMHC New Zealand.

Aside from RMHC New Zealand, the Vodafone Warriors’ other four charity partners are KidsCan, Le Va, Paralympics New Zealand, and Shine.
