Touch teams do double on debut

Double delight for the Vodafone Warriors’ trailblazing teams making their debut in the NRL Touch Premiership at Mount Smart Stadium today.

The men’s and women’s contests against fellow newcomers the Sydney Roosters provided the lunch-time course on a stunning day at the Vodafone Warriors’ home base.

After the club’s under-20 side had taken on Newcastle in the Jersey Flegg Cup, the women’s touch team stepped out just after midday and immediately impressed in a 10-5 win.

The men’s battle was nip and tuck all the way, going touchdown for touchdown until the Vodafone Warriors gained an 8-7 lead and wound down the clock to claim victory.
