The Vodafone Warriors have announced Isaiah Papali’i has been disciplined for an off-field misdemeanour involving a low-range drink-driving offence during the offseason.

The 20-year-old will miss the club’s season-opening NRL match against the Bulldogs at Mount Smart Stadium on Saturday.

Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George said the club was determined to act firmly on indiscretions which contravened standards.

“We expect better from our players and anyone who falls short of our standards will be appropriately dealt with irrespective of the time of year or their standing within the club,” said George.

“Isaiah is extremely remorseful for his actions. He feels like he’s let his team-mates, the club, our fans and his family down."

“He is now determined to win back their respect and will also be fighting hard to earn back his spot in the team.”

Papali’i will be available for selection for the Vodafone Warriors’ second-round encounter with the Wests Tigers in Sydney on Sunday, March 24.

The club will be making no further comment.
