The Warriors’ debut in the inaugural NRL women’s premiership today was thrown into disarray after their flight was diverted to Brisbane last night by an electrical storm in Sydney.

Coach Luisa Avaiki and her players left Auckland yesterday afternoon ahead of their historic clash against the Sydney Roosters at ANZ Stadium today.

They never made it to Sydney, though, after a lightning storm forced the flight north where the team was forced to spend the night in Brisbane.

After arriving at their hotel at 11.00pm, the Warriors were back up at 5.00am today to catch a flight to Sydney. They didn’t reach their destination until about five hours before kick-off in today’s game.
