Some special achievements, including a club record for away wins in a season, emerged from the Vodafone Warriors’ gritty 18-12 win against St George Illawarra in Wollongong tonight.

Beating the Dragons at WIN Stadium for the first time in 11 attempts was the standout.

St George Illawarra debuted in the competition in 1999, hosting the Vodafone Warriors in Wollongong for the first time in 2000. The Dragons romped to victory 54-0 setting off a streak which would see them win 38-18 (2001), 28-10 (2004), 32-18 (2005), 22-16 (2006), 34-6 (2008), 12-11 (2009), 26-22 (2011), 38-6 (2012) and 19-10 (2013).

The win, just the seventh for the Vodafone Warriors in 28 encounters between the two sides. completed the club's first home and away double against the Dragons in the same season following the 20-12 success at Mount Smart Stadium in round seven.

This was the eighth away victory this season, a record for the club since entering the competition in 1995. The Vodafone Warriors now have an 8-3 return in 11 away matches and have a chance to extend it to 9-3 with their final regular season road trip in two weeks when they face Canterbury-Bankstown. If they win that match it would equal the team's combined total of away wins in the last three seasons.

This was also the team’s 12th win this year, a mark the Vodafone Warriors have achieved only once since their grand final season in 2011 (they had 12 wins in 2014).

The most wins the Vodafone Warriors have achieved in a regular season has been 17 in 2002 and 15 in 2003.
