Mitre 10 is the latest sponsor to come on board for ‘The Great Vodafone Warriors Charity Day’ with a commitment to contribute up to $10,000 if there’s a sell-out for the club’s 19th-round NRL clash against Melbourne at Mount Smart Stadium on Sunday, July 22 (4.00pm kick-off).
With the 10,000 crowd milestone passed more than two weeks out from the match, the 15,000 mark is now in sight.
Already committed to $2500, Mitre 10’s contribution will climb to $5000 for a 15,000 crowd, $7500 for 20,000 and $10,000 for a sell-out of 25,000 plus.
“This is a brilliant response from Mitre 10 to our charity day initiative,” said Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George.
“We’re looking for everyone to join the party in helping to raise as much money as we can for our beneficiaries KidsCan, Paralympics New Zealand, Ronald McDonald House and Shine.
“They are all causes that mean an awful lot to us and we’re committed to helping them in any way we can.”
Mitre 10’s crowd formula donation follows the Vodafone Warriors’ announcement three days ago that it would contribute $50,000 for a sell-out. With the crowd now beyond the 10,000 mark the club is committed to $5000 so far with its contribution growing to $10,000 for a 15,000 crowd, $25,000 for 20,000 and $50,000 for a sell-out.
Total contributions are already close to $10,000 since the Vodafone Warriors launched the charity day just three days ago.
Corporate partners Rapid Property and DCS Builders Ltd have each donated $1000 while Vodafone’s text-a-donation service has also just been launched as another fundraising outlet. Donations of $3.00 can be made by texting WARRIORS to 4483.
“We really appreciate the way so many people are getting on board but we need lots more as well,” said George.
“Our partners are also coming up with a bunch of amazing prizes and items for auction which will help us raise more funds.”
George said details would be revealed early next week.
