Harvey Norman Community Warriors hit Christchurch

Six players will spearhead a jam-packed Harvey Norman Community Warriors schedule ahead of the Vodafone Warriors’ 14th-round NRL clash against Manly in Christchurch on Saturday.

The advance guard arrived in the Garden City tonight before launching a programme of school visits and other appearances over the next three days while the NRL team will land in the city on Friday afternoon.

Injured Vodafone Warriors Leivaha Pulu, Nathaniel Roache and Junior Pauga are joined by Intrust Super Premiership squad members Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck and Canterbury-raised Tevin Arona along with Vodafone Junior Warrior Keanu Laumatia-Paki. Also in the party is Kiwi Fern and Vodafone Warriors community relations manager Georgia Hale.

The team will visit hundreds of pupils at 12 schools in the Christchurch area over the next two days as well as travelling to Rolleston College on Thursday afternoon for a special event with members of the Rolleston Warriors Rugby League Club (which has the same logo as the Vodafone Warriors).

The focus at the school visits will be introducing the ACC SportSmart programme while one school has been targeted for the KidsCan ‘Raincoats for Kids’ initiative.

The players will also attend a gala dinner with the Manly team at the Christchurch Casino tomorrow night.

After more school visits on Friday, the Harvey Norman Community Warriors roadshow will move to the Halswell Rugby League Club where the team will roll out the Mitre 10 Touch Challenge.

The final event will be a Harvey Norman Junior Rugby League Breakfast at Canterbury Agricultural Park on Saturday morning when the community team will serve breakfast to all the local kids there to play footy.
