For the first time, four NRL teams will line up on the same day at Mt Smart Stadium with the Wests Tigers playing host to the Melbourne Storm before the Vodafone Warriors square off against the North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday, April 7.
To commemorate the historic occasion, the Vodafone Warriors will wear a special jersey.
Known as “AKL Sunset”, the jersey has a neon retro flavour and draws inspiration from popular culture movie Tron while showcasing Auckland’s beautiful skyline as an acknowledgement of the event’s major partners, SKYCITY and Ateed.
As well as blending a mix of vibrant colours, the jersey also features logos of all four teams involved in the SKYCITY Auckland Double Header.
“This event is going to be absolutely massive,” Vodafone Warriors CEO Cameron George said.
“We thought what better way to acknowledge our partners, Ateed and SKYCITY, and the fact we are breaking new ground on Saturday than by releasing another jersey.
“Fans who wish to purchase better get in quickly and pre-order as we are only releasing 500 for sale and expect them to fly out the door.”
George said tickets were also selling quickly to the SKYCITY Auckland Double Header and promised fans the game day experience would be as “stunning as this jersey”.
