Get to know WA ahead of round one v Rabbitohs

With the Vodafone Warriors set to open their 2018 NRL season in the Perth NRL Double Header we thought we’d take the chance highlight some of the many great attractions Western Australia has to offer should you be planning a trip to watch the boys take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs in round one.

About Perth

Perth is Australia's only capital city where you can enjoy the beach lifestyle, relax in natural bushland, sample world-class local wines and watch an ocean sunset within just 30 minutes of the city. It's also the sunniest state capital, averaging 3,000 hours of sunshine per year and boasting a string of 19 beautifully clean and uncrowded beaches.

Top things to do in and around Perth

Explore Kings Park & Botanic Garden

It’s Australia’s largest inner city park and the green heart of the CBD. With over 400 hectares of unique bushland, tranquil parkland and botanic garden, it’s no surprise it is the most popular visitor destination in Western Australia.

Discover the port city of Fremantle

Fremantle or ‘Freo’ as it is affectionately known by the locals, is known for its maritime, convict and colonial history. These days however, it is a bustling cultural hub teeming with cafes, shops, pubs and markets.

Relax on Rottnest Island

It’s an idyllic island playground just a short ferry ride from the mainland and a world away from city life. For such a tiny island, this car-free and carefree place packs a lot of pleasure into a day. Look out for the friendly Quokkas, a marsupial unique to WA who can regularly be seen around the island.

Swan Valley

Explore Western Australia’s oldest wine region, located just 20 minutes from the city. Many of the vineyards are still owned by descendants of early European settlers, who might just share some of their story over a fruity red at their cellar door.

Want to explore more of Western Australia?

Western Australia is full of extraordinary experiences. From the 350-million-year old Bungle Bungle Range in the Kimberley region to the Ningaloo Reef, one of the few places on Earth you can swim with whale sharks - the gentle giants of the sea.

Some experiences are just a couple of hours drive from Perth. Head south and you can find yourself in one of Australia’s premium wine regions – the Margaret River Wine Region. Or head north along the coast to visit Nambung National Park, home to the Pinnacles - eerie limestone spires that have formed over millions of years.
