Details

The Vodafone Warriors will recognise their Pasifika heritage when they face their original opponent Brisbane at Mount Smart Stadium on Saturday night.

The Canterbury of New Zealand strip they’ll wear pays homage to the club’s original kit the Auckland Warriors used in their debut against the Broncos on March 10, 1995.

More than that, the 2017 heritage jersey – ‘Pacific Warrior’ – not only recognises the club’s beginnings but also embraces the Pasifika culture on which the Vodafone Warriors are built.

The concept is the brainchild of artist Dave Burke, a long-standing collaborator with Canterbury of New Zealand. He brings intricate detail and a strong cultural background to his work, coupled with his passion for the game.

While capturing the colours of the original 1995 strip, the Pasifika-style treatment pays respect to the many players of Pasifika heritage who have represented the club since 1995.

On game day only, the Vodafone Warriors are offering fans attending the Brisbane clash the chance to slip on a ‘Pacific Warrior’ jersey for only $129.00 to show your support for our heritage. The jerseys will be available from the just-opened Vodafone Warriors SuperStore and other merchandise outlets around the ground.

CCC 'Celebrate like a Vodafone Warrior'

As match day sponsor, Canterbuury of New Zealand will be running a 'Celebrate like a Vodafone Warrior' competition at halftime.

Participants will run with a football from the 20-metre line to the goal line and score under the posts, unopposed.

They will then be required to execute a creative post-try celebration, dancing, using corner posts and ball or whatever. The more creative the better.
