Melbourne’s squad boasts some New Zealand content in Manurewa Marlins junior and current Kiwi Kenny Bromwich, who has been named captain for this trial. Other Kiwi connections can be found in hooker Slade Griffin, prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona and outside back Jeremy Hawkins, formerly with Canberra.

Bromwich and Asofa-Solomona apart, the Storm's line-up includes wing Suliasi Vunivalu, who scored an astounding 23 tries in 21 games in his rookie season in 2016. Centre Cheyse Blair, fullback Young Tonumaipea, standoff Cameron Munster, prop Chris Welch and back rower Felise Kaufusi all featured regularly last year.
