Mount Smart Stadium’s massive new LED screen is right on target to add a new dimension to the game day experience for members and fans supporting the Vodafone Warriors in their home games during the 2017 NRL season.

The 18-metre high framework for the 212 square metre high-definition screen casts an imposing presence at the northern end of the ground after being lifted into position by giant cranes on Wednesday.

Vodafone Warriors managing director Jim Doyle said work on installing the screen was expected to be completed by the end of January, in plenty of time before the club’s season-opening match against the Newcastle Knights on Sunday, March 5 (4.00pm kick-off).

“The screen is a fantastic development and something we know our members are really looking forward to,” said Doyle.

“Watching it being installed on Wednesday you can finally appreciate just how big it is.

“We’re very excited about how much it’s going to enhance the game day experience here at our home, Mt Smart Stadium.”

The Daktronics screen is the same brand and similar in size to the screens at Sydney's Allianz Stadium.
At 11 metres by 19 metres, the mega-screen itself will deliver high-definition live action and replays and also offers split screens to show scores, statistics and other stadium messages.
