Game day is special in so many ways for Vodafone Warriors members and fans.
It certainly was for Christchurch’s Blake Pope and his mum Danielle when they were at Mount Smart Stadium for the Vodafone Warriors’ clash against Gold Coast.
From Make-a-Wish Foundation, Blake’s wish was to meet Vodafone Warriors star Shaun Johnson so the club hosted him on the same day veteran back rower Simon Mannering made his landmark 250th NRL appearance.
Blake was able to run the ball out before kick-off in the big game and his special highlight was meeting Johnson in the sheds after the victory as well as travelling on the team bus with him for the ‘Meet the Team’ post-match event at SKYCITY afterwards.
He met all the players and had a really cool time while major sponsor SKYCITY kindly provided accommodation for Blake and his mum. A wish come true.
