Vodafone is putting the Vodadrone into orbit at tonight’s first-ever NRL game in Taranaki.

The Vodadrone’s halftime flight will be the special feature of Vodafone’s programme in its capacity as match day sponsor of the 11th-round clash between the Vodafone Warriors and Canberra at Yarrow Stadium (7.35pm kick-off).

The drone will hover in front of each stand shooting out about 50 soft red foam balls into the crowd. Concealed within the balls are printed dockets with the name of a Fantastic Fridays prize. All winners will be able to go to the Vodafone tent at the ground to redeem their prizes.

Gates open at 4.45pm today ahead of a representative clash between provincial rivals the Taranaki Sharks and the Manawatu Mustangs kicking off at 5.00pm.

Following the match, the countdown to the feature game launches with the Ray White coin toss and the ACC Biggest Warm-Up. Run by Vodafone Warriors NRL community ambassador and Kiwi Fern Georgia Hale, the warm-up will involve mini and mod teams from around the Taranaki province.

The mini and mod games are due to kick off at 6.35pm with these match-ups:

Under 7s | Waitara Bears v Coastal Cobras.

Under 9s | Western Suburbs Tigers v Marist Dragons; Hawera Hawks v Coastal Cobras; Normanby Knights v Waitara Bears.
