The severely-depleted Kiwis put up a brave defensive effort in their 0-16 loss to the Kangaroos in Friday night's Anzac Test in Newcastle.
Stripped of a cast of high-quality players, the Kiwis were handed a searching defensive assignment by the vastly-experienced Australian side.
They were up for it, too, holding the Australians to a 12-0 lead until the closing seconds of the contest.
