Get along to the Otara Scorpions Rugby League Club today to meet all 18 players named to represent the Vodafone Warriors at the 2016 Downer NRL Auckland Nines at Eden Park on February 6 and 7.

They’ll be at Ngati Otara Park in Gilbert Road from 5.00pm-6.30pm; among the players are fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and prop Sam Lisone, who both call Otara home.

Tuivasa-Sheck was brought up in Otara but never played for the Scorpions. He initially played some schoolboy rugby union for the East Tamaki club before switching to rugby league with the Otahuhu Leopards; he played both codes when he attended Otahuhu College.

Tangaroa College-educated Lisone, heading into his second NRL season, is an Otara Scorpions junior.

All 16 Downer NRL Auckland Nines teams are visiting clubs around the city in the build-up to this weekend’s tournament.

The Vodafone Warriors will mix and mingle with members and fans at today’s community event, signing autographs and posing for photos. There’ll be activities on site and the Vodafone Warriors will also have their merchandise van on location.
