Photographer Andrew Cornaga, director of Photosport Ltd, was named the CBL Insurance Supreme Sports Journalist of the Year - the third time he has won the title - at the 2015 Sir Terry McLean National Sports Journalism Awards.

He earlier won the award for the best photography portfolio and also the best single photo for the spectacular image he captured of Daniel Vettori taking a one-handed catch during the Cricket World Cup earlier this year.

Photosport photographer Andrew Cornaga claimed the awards for best photography portfolio and best single photo and was then announced as CBL Insurance Supreme Sports Journalist of the Year the third time he has achieved that honour. His photo of Daniel Vettori taking a one-handed catch during the cricket world cup was considered the best of the year.

Included in his portfolio and also a contender for the single best photo of the year was his exceptional image of Vodafone Warriors hooker Nathan Friend's stunning between-the-legs offload which led to a try for Tuimoala Lolohea in the home win against Melbourne this year.

Andrew and the team at Photosport have been photography suppliers to the Vodafone Warriors since the club's inception. The Vodafone Warriors would like to congratulate Andrew on winning the three awards.

Judges' comments

The winner’s portfolio stood out, apart from technical excellence, for his unique capture of three moments – Daniel Vettori’s soaring catch, the instant when Warriors hooker Nathan Friend made his almost impossible upside-down, between-his-legs off load and, most particularly, Sonny Bill Williams comforting Springbok centre Jesse Kriel in the Rugby World Cup.
