The Vodafone Warriors are on zombie alert as they count down to their next NRL home game against the Sydney Roosters at Mount Smart Stadium next Saturday night (June 13).

The club’s predicting an invasion of members and fans masquerading as zombies after today launching #ZombieNight for the 14th-round game.

The launch features the release of footage of zombies breaking into Mount Smart Stadium to prepare the venue for the expected influx of hordes of supporters dressed as zombies.

The #ZombieNight theme follows the Women in League (#GirlPower) promotion for last Sunday’s clash against Newcastle.

The focus for other home games so far has included the club’s 20th anniversary match against the Broncos, the #FeedTheBeast theme for Manu Vatuvei’s 200th NRL appearance against Wests Tigers and the Anzac Day match against Gold Coast marking the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings.

“Our themes are a way of giving our members and fans the chance to add more to their game day experience,” said Vodafone Warriors fan engagement manager Rodney Wallace.

“They come along first and foremost to support the Vodafone Warriors and there’s no doubt there’ll be huge interest in having the Roosters here, even more so with Roger Tuivasa-Sheck lining up against us before joining the club next year.

“But we also aim to give supporters more reasons to enjoy their visit and want to come back again.

“We had a great response to our #GirlPower theme last week with so many members and fans getting into the spirit and challenge them to get dressed up again for our #ZombieNight.”

Setting the scene will be a number of staff from Auckland-based Zombie Survival Challenge who will be roaming around the stadium dressed as zombies.

Several Vodafone Warriors staff members will also be in theme on the night.
