Along with another tripleheader feast of football, the SKYCITY Mystics, a special #GirlPower Zone, a performance by X Factor finalist Nyssa and much more feature on the game day programme for the Vodafone Warriors’ Women in League clash against Newcastle at Mount Smart Stadium tomorrow (gates open: 11.30am; match day sponsor: TNT).

The #GirlPower tone for the occasion was launched last week when the SKYCITY Mystics, who top netball’s ANZ Championship New Zealand conference, trained in the Vodafone Warriors’ gym and took on their rugby league counterparts in a cross codes basketball challenge.

It sparked a social media campaign built around the #GirlPower theme for the Vodafone Warriors’ first outing at Mount Smart Stadium since Anzac Day.

Also launched was a special combo ticket offer for a seat in the #GirlPower Zone in a dedicated bay in the West Stand – where the SKYCITY Mystics will sit – as well as a ticket to a screening of the recently-released Pitch Perfect 2 at SKYCITY last night. The netballers will have a strong presence tomorrow with some of them being involved in interviews in the Corporate Lounge and on the field in the lead-up to the main game.

In the D Zone where there’ll be a number of game day features including a Breast Cancer Cure Mad Hatters’ Tea Party for the younger set in the community area.

Members and fans are encouraged to come along dressed for the occasion by wearing pink wigs, Women in League jerseys or anything else pink; the Vodafone Warriors will be wearing the Canterbury of New Zealand Supernova Women in League kit.

At halftime in the main game, Nyssa Collins, who finished second in New Zealand’s X Factor, will perform while the SKYCITY cheer team will also be on show both before the NRL game and at halftime.

Other features will include a female Vodafone Warriors member doing the coin toss with captains Simon Mannering and Kurt Gidley (at halftime in the NSW Cup game) and also a ‘Perfect Partners’ on-field and big screen activation. The Vodafone Warriors will run onto the field through an all-female guard of honour.

Also marked tomorrow will be World Smokefree Day. Associate Health Minister Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga will be a special guest while Quit Buses will be stationed outside the stadium to encourage those fans thinking about giving up smoking to take that first step.

The Quit Buses are funded as part of the Pathway to Smokefree 2025 Innovation Fund and provide smoking cessation and support services in the greater Auckland region.
