The Vodafone Warriors have gone back-to-back after beating Parramatta 29-16 in today's third-round NRL encounter at Mount Smart Stadium.

Scoring four tries in the first half through Ryan Hoffman, Manu Vatuvei, Tuimoala Lolohea and Solomone Kata they led 22-0 at the break.

They managed just a second Kata try and a Shaun Johnson field goal in the second half while the Eels collected 16 points.

With two wins from three starts the Vodafone Warriors sit fifth on the ladder for now.

 

FIRST HALF

2'00" | Manu Vatuvei head slammed, bit of a knee thrown in as he plays the ball and then some push and shove. Penalty Vodafone Warriors.

4'00" | TRY! After a penalty deep inside Parramatta's territory, the Vodafone Warriors drive towards the line, go to the left where Ryan Hoffman drives over for his third try in three games for the club. Shaun Johnson converts.

13'00" | TRY! Building pressure, attacking through the left edge. Nicely weighted grubber pushed through by Chad Townsend with Hoffman and Solomone Kata racing through, Kata getting there for his second try in consecutive games. Johnson's conversion is wide.

17'00" | Parramatta error, scrum feed 30 metres out.

20'00" | TRY! Vatuvei hits up strongly in his own 20, gets a good play the ball, Thomas Leuluai zips out of dummy half, breaks clear and finds Tuimoala Lolohea in support for a 40 metre run to the line for his first NRL try. Johnson converts.

24'00" | TRY! Vodafone Warriors make huge inroads through their left edge. Townsend skips clear, positions his outsides and throws wide pass for Manu Vatuvei to cruise over for his second try in as many games and the 137th of his career. Just three short now of equalling Nigel Vagana's record for the most tries in the competition by a New Zealander. Johnson converts again.

35'00" | Impressive defensive set from Vodafone Warriors, catching Parramatta in possession on the last. The Vodafone Warriors transition out of defence quickly, strong run on the left by Matulino who gets a great off load away around the back of a defender. Townsend again carves clear, chips fullback Will Hopoate but gets knocked down. Ball batted dead by Chris Sandow. Video referees find nothing wrong with Hopoate's block. Goal-line dropout follows but last tackle kick just a little too deep, the Eels back out to the 20 with seven tackles.

HALFTIME | VODAFONE WARRIORS 22, PARRAMATTA EELS 0

The Vodafone Warriors are dominating across the board. The scoreboard tells the story. The other stats are overwhelmingly in their favour. They've completed 22 of 23 sets (96%) while the Eels have managed just 11 from 15 (73%). The metres gained favour the Vodafone Warriors 1165-598, Parramatta has made 209 records to just 134 for the Vodafone Warriors while the missed tackles counts shows the home side missing only four and the visitors 17. Line breaks are 4-0.

Vatuvei has already made 131 metres from 13 runs, Matulino 111, Hoffman 105, Townsend 100, Lolohea 95 and Mannering 91. Mannering tops the tackle count with 24.

SECOND HALF

46'00" | TRY| The fifth try of the day and now $5000 for World Vision's Cyclone Pam Appeal. This time Townsend goes to the sky to the left dropping in Kata's direction. He climbs, snares it and gets it down for his second try of the day. Johnson converts.

58'00" | The Beast breaks into the clear, Hopoate in front of hi. He runs over the top of him but is knocked over inside Parramatta's half. Set ends just short of Parramatta's line. 

63'00" | Possession evening out this half. Parramatta shifts to release Robinson on a long run. Lolohea, at fullback for Tomkins (off the field), comes across in cover. Gets to him and seems to get him into touch. Replays suggested Robinson's foot touched the line but the video referees decided not, awarding a try. Under huge pressure from the crowd Robinson couldn't convert his own try.

Vodafone Warriors 28, Parramatta Eels 16

67'00" | Vodafone Warriors receive a penalty on Parramatta's line. This time they take the option of going for two points looking to take the lead out to 14 points. Johnson's attempt hits an upright and goes dead. Parramatta drop out from the 20.

75'00" | FIELD GOAL! Johnson chips ahead, chips again, Parramatta knocks on. From the attacking scrum the Eels are penalised in front of their posts (differential penalty being from a scrum so no shot at goal). Vodafone Warriors set up for field goal, Johnson slots it and the margin is 13 points.
