Three team awards are given out each month to the players. Defender of the month, Attacking player of the month and the Mana Award.

These are the award winners for the month of May:

ASICS ATTACKING PLAYER OF THE MONTH | Konrad Hurrell

Konrad was a menace for opposition defences all month long. The barn-storming centre led the team with his 451 running metres across the three games, in which he also broke 14 tackles. ‘Koni’ had a particularly impressive performance against Canberra on May 10 where he ran for 209 metres and broke the line three times.

CANTERBURY DEFENDER OF THE MONTH | Ben Henry

Ben has had a great deal of responsibility thrust upon him in 2014 and May has been no exception, as he has shown what a versatile and reliable player he is. After making his Kiwis debut on May 2 at the hooker, Henry returned to the club with renewed vigour and was named in two different positions before the month was out. He played in the centres against the Raiders and the Bulldogs, before being placed in the second row for the clash with the Titans. Ben played the full 80 minutes in each of the three matches and showed great poise.

MANA AWARD | Konrad Hurrell

Konrad was placed firmly under the media spotlight after an unfortunate off-the-field incident in early May. The way that he has responded has been admirable, with both his demeanour and his on-field performance drawing praise from his teammates. After issuing a heartfelt apology, Hurrell got straight back to work and played a leading role in the team’s two wins from their three games in May.
