Barnett on track to make comeback in early June

Tough forward Mitchell Barnett is in line to make a return to the field early next month.

The 29-year-old has been side-lined with a neck injury suffered in the 26-12 third-round win over North Queensland on March 18.

After a visit to a specialist yesterday, Barnett posted on his Instagram account: “See you all soon!”

One New Zealand Warriors head of performance Balin Cupples said the specialist had told Barnett it was safe for him to build back into contact.

“Mitch will have a few weeks of building through contact progressions and integrating back into full team training,” he said.

“All going to plan he will be available for team selection from round 14.”

That could leave him in line for his debut appearance for the club at Mount Smart Stadium when the One New Zealand Warriors host competition newcomers the Dolphins for the first time on June 3.
