The Vodafone Warriors will be out and about in the Hamilton area ahead of their 11th-round NRL clash against the St George Illawarra Dragons at FMG Stadium Waikato on Friday night (8.00pm kick-off).

Over the next two days, they have a packed schedule of school visits and a full squad signing session.

Leading the community charge will be veteran Vodafone Warrior Manu Vatuvei and team-mate Ata Hingano, who will join NRL community ambassadors Jerome Ropati and Georgia Hale.

Their trip to Hamilton began at the tenpin bowling alley at SKYCITY on Wednesday evening where Vatuvei and Hingano joined winners of a SKYCITY competition.

Thursday is jam-packed with the Harvey Norman Community Warriors team travelling to schools around Hamilton to roll out the ACC SportsSmart and KidsCan ‘Raincoats for Kids’ programmes.

The community crew will take in a total of 10 schools as well joining two others for a Konica Minolta League in Libraries visit to Chartwell Library.

At 4.00pm tomorrow the full NRL squad for the match against the Dragons will be at The Base at Te Awa Shopping Centre in Te Rapa to meet fans at a signing session.

There’ll be another six school visits on Friday including Te Kura Kaupapa o Mapihi Maurea and Te Kura o Te Ararima.

Community activities continue at FMG Stadium Waikato on Friday night when fans will have a chance to have images taken in a photo booth with Vatuvei and Hingano. Before the NRL kick-off at 8.00pm, Vatuvei will also be firing the Canterbury of New Zealand T-shirt cannon into the crowd giving fans a chance to win a CCC Vodafone Warriors T-shirt.

This Friday’s match is first time the Vodafone Warriors have taken a home game to Hamilton.

The key focus of the game day progreamme will be supporting the fight against brain cancer in support of former Newcastle Knights fullback Mark Hughes who was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013. For every CCC Vodafone Warriors beanie sold on game day, $10 will go directly to the Mark Hughes Foundation.
