Three South Island everyday heroes are all set for their special trip to Auckland this weekend after having their travel packages and tickets to Sunday’s Vodafone Warriors-Parramatta NRL clash hand-delivered today by Vodafone Warriors ambassador Sir Peter Leitch, managing director Jim Doyle and club great Jerome Ropati.

Sir Peter, Doyle and Ropati travelled to Christchurch for a League 4 Life fundraiser luncheon at the Cashmere Club today where the guests included three locals who were heavily involved in fighting the Port Hills fires in February and the Kaikoura earthquake.

Bulldozer drivers Nikora Martin and John Harris from CCL Contracting Construction Ltd plus Urban Search and Rescue’s Rhonda McNicol are among 20 South Islanders being brought to Auckland when the Vodafone Warriors salute everyday heroes on Sunday.

At the lunch they were presented with their travel packages comprising Air New Zealand tickets, accommodation at SKYCITY and passes as Sir Peter’s guests in the Stacey Jones Lounge on game day.

The rest of the South Island contingent travelling to Auckland this weekend comprises firefighters from Kaikoura, Culverden and Ward who supported communities in the wake of the Kaikoura earthquake disaster last November.
