Vodafone Warriors managing director Jim Doyle and head coach Andrew McFadden say it was unacceptable that three players went to a concert in Auckland last Friday night, especially two who were due to fly to Sydney only a few hours later for the club’s NRL clash against Wests Tigers last Sunday.

Konrad Hurrell, Dominique Peyroux and Manu Vatuvei attended a show by American R&B artist Ginuwine.

Hurrell and Peyroux were in the side which left Auckland early on Saturday while Vatuvei is recovering from recent shoulder surgey.

“While this is at the lower end on a scale of one to 10, it’s still not acceptable in terms of the standards we demand and expect of professional players,” said McFadden.

“We have dealt with this internally after questioning all three players. They have all apologised and clearly understand they didn’t make a good decision.”

McFadden said he was extremely disappointed when he first found out about the incident.

“Konrad and Dom had an early flight out the next morning and one of the things we preach in terms of our preparation is that we get enough sleep, hydration and that we eat properly,” he said.

Hurrell and Peyroux travel to Sydney on Saturday for the Vodafone Warriors’ final match of the season against the Bulldogs on Sunday night.
